Workplace Injury Insurance


Workplace injury insurance provides coverage for physical harm caused by external factors occurring as a result of or during the course of employment.

According to Article (1) of the Palestinian Labor Law, a workplace injury is defined as:

"An accident occurring to the worker while performing work duties, or due to the nature of the work, or while commuting to or from the workplace. This also includes occupational diseases as specified by regulation."

Similarly, under Article (1) of the (currently suspended) Palestinian Social Security Law, workplace injuries are defined as those that occur during or due to employment, including commuting injuries and occupational diseases listed in the annex of the Labor Law.

Coverage Scope:

This insurance policy provides compensation in accordance with the Palestinian Labor Law No. 7 of 2000, which is in effect in areas under the jurisdiction of the Palestinian National Authority.

The policy also covers:

  • Injuries occurring during the worker’s commute to and from work, provided the usual and customary route is followed.

  • Injuries sustained during official work assignments outside the regular workplace during official working hours.

  • Accidents during official working hours within the place of employment.

Optional extensions can be added to cover:

  • Overtime hours

  • Weekends and public holidays
    (subject to explicit mention in the policy and payment of an additional premium)

Compensation Includes:

  • Bodily injury

  • Death

  • Permanent total disability

  • Permanent partial disability

  • Temporary disability

All resulting from an accidental event occurring during the policy period and within the defined scope of work.

Types of Workplace Injuries:

  1. Fatal Injuries:
    Injuries resulting in the worker's death, whether immediately or after a period of time due to complications.

  2. Non-Fatal Injuries, including:

    • Full recovery (with downtime but no permanent disability)

    • Still under treatment

    • Permanent disability exceeding 35%

    • Permanent disability less than 35%

    • Occupational diseases (as listed in the labor law’s annex)
