An-Najah National University, represented by its President, Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Zeid, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Palestinian Union of Insurance Companies, represented by Chairman of the Board Mr. Hamzeh Shroof, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The agreement aims to strengthen mutual cooperation in developing competencies and enhancing training and scientific research within the insurance sector.
The signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Saed Al-Koni, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Raafat Al-Jallad, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Communication, as well as Mr. Kaid Mi’ari, Secretary General of the Union, and Mr. Mohammad Sa’abneh, Head of the Union’s Accounting Department.
The MoU seeks to open new horizons in training and research by preparing qualified professionals in the fields of insurance and risk management. It aims to contribute to the development of the Palestinian national economy by equipping students with practical and academic skills aligned with labor market demands. The agreement also focuses on providing a comprehensive set of professional services, enhancing the employability of graduates from the Faculty of Business and Communication, and advancing their practical capabilities.
Among the goals of the agreement is the exchange of scientific and professional expertise between both parties through conferences, seminars, workshops, and training courses.
Prof. Dr. Abdel Nasser Zeid emphasized that this agreement reflects the University’s commitment to serving Palestinian society and preparing highly qualified graduates capable of contributing to the future of their country. He affirmed that the collaboration with the Palestinian Union of Insurance Companies will enrich both theoretical and practical knowledge in this vital sector.
For his part, Mr. Hamzeh Shroof stated that the Union is committed to raising insurance awareness and developing professional competencies. He noted that cooperation with An-Najah National University represents a strategic step toward strengthening the national economy through the insurance sector.
Areas of cooperation will include the provision of specialized training programs, the organization of academic courses and research seminars for university students, and leveraging the external relations and connections of both parties to enhance professional training. The agreement also encourages the implementation of joint research projects in accounting, auditing, finance, and management, and facilitates internship opportunities for students of the Faculty of Business and Communication within member companies of the Union. Furthermore, it will support the organization of joint training courses in collaboration with An-Najah’s Innovation Park and the Union.
